LEMMI- (Pakke Kessang) – The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has wrapped up two successful 15-day skill development programs as part of the Micro Entrepreneurship Development Project (MEDP) in Lemmi, located in the Pakke Kessang district. These initiatives, which focused on ‘Bakery Training’ and ‘Soap Making,’ were designed to empower women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with vital entrepreneurial skills. More than 60 women from various Primary Level Federations took part in these engaging training sessions.

The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of Talung Taloh, the District Development Manager (DDM) at NABARD; Ms. Bullo Ummpi from BMMU, ArSRLM; staff from the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM) block; representatives from the Centre for Financial Literacy under MoneyWise; and, of course, the enthusiastic trainees.

    Empowering Rural Women through Entrepreneurship
The main goal of these projects was to help SHG women achieve financial independence by starting their own sustainable businesses. By promoting gender equality and self-reliance, NABARD is playing a crucial role in driving social and economic change in rural communities. Many graduates from these training programs have already launched their own ventures, making a positive impact on the local economy and creating jobs.

Since the projects kicked off, over 20 trainees have successfully established their businesses, generating employment opportunities and providing sustainable livelihoods for people in the area. The training approach was interactive, focusing on understanding the specific needs of the women involved and setting achievable entrepreneurial goals with guidance from livelihood experts. Tailored training programs were then crafted to boost their socio-economic well-being.

    Success Stories of Women Entrepreneurs
Meet Asha Pangia Gollo, a determined mother from the Pakke Kessang block who turned her bakery training into a thriving small bakery-cum-eatery in Lemmi. Her venture has not only transformed her family’s financial situation but has also created job opportunities for other women in her village.

Then there’s Anjali Techi Tara from the Keko Anya Self-Help Group, who is overflowing with gratitude for the training she received. She’s already hit the ground running with door-to-door sales of her bakery and soap products. Anjali dreams of taking her business to the next level by supplying well-packaged and labeled products throughout the district.

    Commitment to Sustainable Livelihoods
Encouraging the participants, the DDM from NABARD commended their hard work and emphasized how crucial entrepreneurship is for achieving financial independence. He reaffirmed NABARD’s dedication to promoting livelihood generation and economic growth through these skill-building programs. He also promised that similar initiatives would be rolled out in areas with great potential for income generation.

NABARD is committed to uplifting rural entrepreneurs, ensuring that women in Self-Help Groups acquire the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to start and maintain their own businesses. These projects represent a significant leap towards bolstering rural economies and fostering inclusive growth.
