your financial safety and peace of mind are always our top priorities. As we launch our “Be Alert & Safe” campaign, we want every customer to feel empowered, informed and protected when using banking services. In todays’ digital world, fraudsters and scammers are constantly changing tactics, so a little awareness goes a long way.
Here’s a plain-spoken guide on how you can stay one step ahead of scams and make your banking experience with us both safe and smart.
1. Guard your card, PIN and OTP
No matter what someone says, never share your card number, PIN or OTP (one-time password) with anyone. Our staff will never ask you for this information. If anyone does — hang up, call the bank on official number, and report it.
2. Only use trusted apps and channels
If you’re told to download a strange app or install a software on your phone by someone claiming to “help”, stop. Instead, use our official services: Internet banking, mobile banking, or in-branch visits. Before downloading any banking app, verify it’s from the genuine source (for example, check the bank’s website for links) and look at its reviews and permissions.
3. Be careful with UPI, QR-codes and payment links
When making payments:
- Double-check the UPI ID or QR code you’re paying into.
- Never share your UPI-PIN or MPIN with anyone, even to “receive money”.
- If you get a link via SMS, WhatsApp, or email asking you to “accept payment”, log in to your account separately instead of clicking unknown links.
4. Question offers that sound too good to be true
Phone calls or messages that promise big rewards, job offers, investment schemes, or profits overnight may be scams. If the caller asks for your bank details, your card, or pushes you to act quickly, pause. Take time, verify the offer, and call the bank using the number on your passbook or website before proceeding.
5. Beware of URLs, phishing & fake websites
Scammers often send links that look like they’re from banks but actually lead to fake sites that steal your login credentials. Always navigate to official website yourself (type the address or use a bookmark) and verify any link’s authenticity. If you receive an email or message from someone claiming to be the bank, but you didn’t request anything, it’s safer to ignore or check with us first.
6. Set transaction limits and manage card functions
Use your mobile banking or call your branch to set daily limits for transactions or disable card features (like international usage) if you don’t use them. This adds an extra layer of protection, so if your card details are compromised, the damage is contained.
7. Monitor your accounts, keep your card safe
Make sure you physically keep your debit/credit card safe and always check the SMS alerts or email notifications you receive after every transaction. If there’s any transaction you don’t recognise, report it immediately to the bank.
8. Protect your passwords, change them regularly, destroy sensitive info
Memorise your PINs and passwords and don’t write them down where others can find them easily. Change login passwords periodically. If you receive account statements, call-backs, or other sensitive documents via email or post, store or destroy them properly so that they don’t end up in the wrong hands.
9. Review statements, reconcile regularly
Keep a habit of checking your bank statements, transaction history and balances. If you spot a discrepancy, contact at once. Early detection helps prevent loss.
Final Thoughts
In short: Stay alert, keep your private details private, use only official channels, check everything twice, and trust your instincts if something feels off.
